The First Burn
Sets Everything
The very first time you light your Zili candle is the most important burn of its life. Candle wax has memory — meaning the first melt pool determines how your candle will burn for its entire lifetime.
Allow your candle to burn until the entire top layer of wax has melted from edge to edge. This prevents tunneling — where the candle burns straight down the center, wasting wax along the sides.
For most Zili candles, this takes approximately 2 to 4 hours. Never extinguish your candle before the full melt pool is achieved on the first burn.

Essential Candle Care
Trim Your Wick
Before every burn, trim your wick to ¼ inch (6mm). A trimmed wick ensures a clean, steady flame, prevents black soot, and extends the life of your candle.
Burn Time Limits
Never burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. After 4 hours, extinguish, let it cool completely, trim the wick, and then relight.
Melt Pool First
Always allow your candle to achieve a full melt pool reaching the edges of the jar before extinguishing to prevent tunneling and wax waste.
Extinguish Gently
Use a candle snuffer or dip the wick into the melted wax to extinguish. Avoid blowing out your candle — this can cause smoke and wick drift.
Know When to Stop
Discontinue use when ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom of the jar. Burning beyond this point can overheat the container and become unsafe.
Flat Surface Only
Always place your candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface. Uneven surfaces can cause uneven burning and potential wax spills.

Keep Away from Children
Always place candles out of reach of children. Never leave burning candles in a room where children are unsupervised.
Pet Safety
Keep candles away from pets. Curious animals can knock over candles. Some fragrance oils may also be irritating to sensitive pets.
Never Leave Unattended
Always extinguish candles before leaving a room or going to sleep. A burning candle left alone is a fire hazard.
Keep Clear of Flames
Maintain at least 12 inches of clearance around your candle. Keep away from curtains, books, paper, and other flammable objects.
When You're Not Burning
Storing Your Candle
Cool Completely
Always allow wax to fully solidify before storing or moving your candle.
Cover It
Replace the lid or cover with a cloth to protect from dust and preserve the scent.
Away from Light
Store in a cool, dark place. Direct sunlight can discolor wax and fade the fragrance.
Upright Always
Keep candles stored upright to prevent warping or leaking of the wax.
